    Report on excursion trip

    Destination: World war II cemetery Date: 16th July 2022
    One day educational excursion trip was organized by Kendriya Vidyalaya Kohima for the students of classes III to V to the World War II memorial cemetery, TCP gate, Kohima Nagaland. The trip consisted of the students of class III, IV and V along with the primary teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Kohima..The students came to school by 7:50 and after the assembly they gathered to go on the trip. Our honourable Principal I/c Mr Santosh Kumar Roy wished the students a safe journey. We had two buses for the journey.Our journey started at 9 o’clock in the morning and we reached the location by 10 o’clock. Some snacks were distributed to the students as soon as we reached the locations Students were taken to the memorial cemetery.The whole place is covered with beautiful flowers and there are tombstones for the soldiers of the British Indian Army who died in the Battle of Kohima against the Japanese forces and INA in April 1944. The soldiers died on the battleground of Garrison Hill in the tennis court area of the Deputy Commissioner’s residence Every tombstone is inscribed with a message from the soldier or their family members. The place is very quiet and peaceful with a sense of history. A total of 1421 burials are present there The cemetery is mentioned by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
